We believe a school uniform encourages a sense of pride, loyalty and a sense of belonging. It also avoids discrimination between children and prevents arguments at home. All uniform items need to be clearly named.
Children attending Minerva Primary School are expected to wear the following items of uniform:
Hats, coats and jackets may be worn outdoors, but are not allowed in the classroom. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 should bring a book bag to school every day. A book bag with the school logo is available but not compulsory.
Every child is expected to wear the correct PE kit in every lesson. This kit consists of:
We recommend that this kit is left at school during term time and washed in the holidays.
School logo jumpers / cardigans, PE shirts and school book bags can be purchased from Southwest Schoolwear, located at 144b East Reach, or online at swschoolwear.co.uk.
All other uniform may be purchased from any supermarket or high street retailer.
The school holds a limited stock of secondhand uniform, which can be purchased through the school office (depending on availability). Donations of outgrown school uniform in good condition are always welcomed.
For health and safety reasons we do not allow children to wear jewellery; the wearing of earrings is also discouraged in school. If parents opt for their child to wear earrings, they must be small plain gold/silver studs only. Children are required to remove any items during PE lessons to prevent them from causing injury. Please note: teachers are not permitted to remove earrings. Items of religious significance must be agreed by the school in advance.
Please ensure that your child has a sensible haircut at all times: buzz cuts, tram lines or extreme styles and colours are not allowed.
Pupils are not permitted to wear facial make-up or nail varnish in school and this will be removed if worn. Facial make-up is not permitted on non-uniform days.
