Our Academy

Our values

Throughout the school year, we focus on our core values: courage, collaboration and compassion. Through these values, we strive for excellence in everything we do. Our weekly assemblies will share stories of respect, responsibility, integrity, acceptance, courage and perseverance. Our values VIPs system recognises each time a child shows any of our values in their learning and in their actions with others.

Our vision

Mission Statement: Growing together, making the impossible… possible

Minerva Primary School is committed to transforming the lives of children in our community, where high levels of deprivation and low ambition are prevalent. Our vision is to create an environment where every child can thrive, regardless of their background, and to instil a love of lifelong learning.

Quality First Teaching

We focus relentlessly on the consistency of Quality First Teaching, ensuring that every lesson is scaffolded, explicitly instructed, and utilizes flexible grouping. We incorporate cognitive and metacognitive strategies and leverage technology to enhance learning. Our aim is to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum with high expectations for all, enabling children to succeed and raise their aspirations.

Relational Policy and Practice

We believe in the importance of relational policy and practice, setting high expectations while fostering strong, supportive relationships. Our approach is centred on four key elements:

  • Protect: Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
  • Relate: Building meaningful connections between staff and students.
  • Regulate: Helping students manage their emotions and behaviours.
  • Reflect: Encouraging self-awareness and growth.

Core Values

Our values—Courage, Compassion, Collaboration, and Excellence—are integral to school life. These values guide our actions and decisions, and we strive for excellence in everything we do. Throughout the school year, we focus on these core values, sharing stories of respect, responsibility, integrity, acceptance, courage, and perseverance in our weekly assemblies. Our values VIPs system recognizes each time a child demonstrates these values in their learning and interactions with others.

High Aspirations and Community Support

We have high aspirations for our community and provide extensive support beyond the school gates. We work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure that our children develop the essential skills for a safe, happy, and emotionally and economically secure life. We aim to be at the heart of our locality, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration.

Nurturing and Stimulating Environment

Minerva Primary School provides a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports and celebrates learning. We believe in nurturing, stimulating, and celebrating every child’s achievement, creating a learning community that encompasses creativity, independence, resilience, diversity, and a passion for learning.

By embodying these principles, Minerva Primary School aims to make the impossible possible, growing together with our students and community to achieve excellence in education and beyond.

Our approach

Through building relationships with the children at Minerva, we will provide the best environment for them to learn. There are four key elements to our approach, and these are:

  • Protect;
  • Relate;
  • Regulate;
  • Reflect.
