School Policy on Mobile Phones

Dear parents and carers

This is just a reminder that children may not use mobile phones in school.

We are aware that some parents of children in Years 5 and 6 may want their child to have a phone with them for safety on their walk to and from school. If this is the case for your child, the phone should be handed in to the school office immediately on arrival at school. It will be kept in a locked drawer, and your child can collect it before returning home at the end of the day.

Children in Year 4 and below, and children who are accompanied to and from school, should leave their phones at home during the school day. Any child who urgently needs to contact their parent or carer during school hours should speak to a member of staff, who can arrange for a phone call to be made.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers that mobile phones are not to be used anywhere on the school site: this includes messaging and scrolling. Parents needing to make or receive an urgent call, or requiring assistance with the MCAS app, may come to the school office to use their phones there.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our school site safe for all the children in our community.

Yours faithfully

Mr Gareth Nation
